I always say it , but Nord drum does pretty much any perc you can think of and sound quality is good.
In the analogue realm , then a Vermona does all sorts , wood perc should be fairly easy on most drum synths though , right ?
A cheap option would be a TE pocket operator , the one that does Tonic patches ?

Just read you want hands on , then I would recommend a Vermona drm , it does soft and dusty. It chirps along nicely.
+1 on the Nord solution. I sold and then bitterly regretted selling my Nord Drum mk1. It was a drum synth, rather than being sample based, and was capable of a broad range of timbres, including woody ones. A great piece of kit.

Anyone out there within the UK / EU looking to sell a Nord Drum mk1?
I did the same and bought a 3p back again pretty much immediately. I’d like a 2 really but the prices are ridiculous, plus the distortion on the 3p is really nice, doesn’t thin out the sound.

If only they would make a version with at least 4 outs , instead you have to hardpan just to get two.
