1U 3xMIA has only the bigger knob dedicated for +-5V offset, the smaller knob is for attenuverting the input. Thus there is no point to stick to 1x amplification like with the 3U version where both knobs can be used for offset and it may require exactly 5 or 10 Volts of offset. So the 1U version has some gain.
