the one that warns about getting hot is the TipTop Audio uZeus. And the frontplate actually does get quite hot. They recommend mounting it only on metal rails, not wood.I took a quick look and didn't see any warnings about needing to mount the Behringer CP1A to metal for proper cooling, either in the (confusing) manual https://mediadl.musictribe.com/media/PL ... P1A_WW.pdf or general Internet search. You could try writing to Behringer support and ask them to be sure, but you could just go ahead and try it mounted to wood and then regularly check to make sure the panel isn't getting too hot? (slightly warm to the touch is probably OK, hot to the touch probably isn't?)
I don't know where the Behringer CP1A comes from, i.e., which is the original (i think we can exclude the possibility that they did any research themselves). Some specs are very similar to the TipTop, you can just check if it gets hot (if it is an issue, you will notice).
Otherwise there is no issue with non-metal enclosures, doepfer had wooden boxes since the beginning of time. And other modular synths even before that (the beginning of time, that is).
But I do always recomment using metal rails, also for DIY cases. They don't cost that much (at the right source), maybe an additional $15-25$ per row, compared to $$$$$$$$$$$ for the modules in there. It just makes life much easier.
