1U & 3U Eurorack Modules • Re: Verbos Bark Filter Processor

Hi everyone,

I have been making electronic music for a long time but I'm completely new to the world of Modular. I'm working on a live setup that is, much like my studio, primarily software based using midi controllers and a few guitar pedals.

I'm enamoured with what I hear from the Bark filter (in large part thanks to Tumulishroomaroom/DC11's videos) and I'm playing with the idea of placing one in a 4ms Pod to add as an external effect to my live set. Would any of you mind sharing your ideas on the following?

– Does the Bark filter have stereo i/o?
– Due to i/o restrictions I would use it as a send effect rather than processing the entire source. Hopefully this will add an organic layer on top of the dry signal. Does that approach make sense or would most of the effect be lost? (I noticed that the Slink Maxforlive filter makes most sense when used fully wet, hence this question).
– I imagine that only using the Bark filter without a modulator of some kind, to interact with its parameters rhythmically, doesn't do it justice. The Bark filter is 34 hp wide and I could get, for instance, a power Pod40X. This leaves 6hp for that purpose. What units would fit the bill?
– Do I need a module to raise my audio level to Eurorack levels? If so then a module to that end would need to be part of that 6hp (Intellijel Audio I/O).
– I use a Motu Ultralite MK5 which has DC-coupled TRS outputs for CV control, so I could use that to clock the Bark filter from Ableton. Do I need a separate module that can accept that clock signal or can I just use the Bark for that?

I can imagine the people on this forum view using Eurorack exclusively for processing as underutilising its potential, but I'm quite confident that I do not want to build entire synthesis systems; the cost/time investment just isn't worth it to me and I'm already invested in a digital workflow which suits me. Having said that, I have ADD so I do feel like I'm playing with fire here  I might end up deciding not to open this door, but for now it would be great to learn from you lot.

Thanks!
