Why not? See above... because "I want a fast and failsafe solution that can get the task done in a single step."What I don't understand is ... if you have an audio file of the clock signal that works well and you're in a daw, why not just...
And to add to that, I want a solution that will work (with no extra steps) for a session with a variable tempo map. For example, if a song was cut with a live drummer, I will usually create a tempo map in the session that follows the drummer. And then I'd want the CV clock output to follow that session's tempo map without me having to timestretch individual measures of recorded clock signal.
Another approach would be to load a sample of a single clock pulse into a sampler, and play that back. Pretty doable, though it would still involve editing in the MIDI piano roll. And then if I wanted to manipulate the amount of swing, or connect a device that needs 4 PPQ instead of 2 PPQ, then I'd have to go back and edit by hand again.
The right tool for the right job, on the other hand, would allow all these possibilities to be quickly tried out and explored without getting bogged down in the details.
