- Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt - Wiener Philharmoniker - Decca 1960s
- Rudolf Kempe - Münchner Philharmoniker - EMI 1970s
- Herbert Von Karajan -1963 (for a beautiful M/S Stereo in the Jesus-Christus-Kirche) & DG 1977 (lush multi mic setup at the Philharmonie). In both instances you get the magnificent Klang of the Berliner Philharmoniker at the height of their powers.
