1U & 3U Eurorack Modules • Re: Boredbrain Optx v2 ADAT Optical Converter

So great! Can’t wait. Congrats Boredbrain!
Thank you!
Looking forward to this! I'd prefer not to ship from the USA and pay customs etc, do you know when this will be going to dealers abroad (UK in particular)?
Yes, we'll be shipping to our EU distributor about the same time in mid October, so probably only shortly after that. I already saw some pre-order listings, or maybe just at Elevator Sound thus far.
Nice! So with these specs, the main differences between the optx v2 and the new expert sleepers es-10, seems to be that the optx can have it’s 8 inputs split into 4 pairs that can do either audio or cv with switches on the front panel.

While on es-10 you can get all 8 channels as either cv or audio, without having to be split in pairs, but has no switches on the front to change settings, as its only configurable through jumpers on the back. Es-10 also has full switchable modular or line level compatibility on it’s inputs as well. Any other differences besides size and converters (which I imagine will sound pretty much the same between the two)?
I can't speak to the circuitry or conversion quality of ES-10 (Expert Sleepers makes a lot of nice products though), but from the manual it seems there's a single jumper for all 8 inputs to toggle between AC/DC-coupling.

With Optx v2, when a pair of input channels is switched into CV mode (DC-coupled), it executes a quick self-calibration procedure to detect DC offset and then compensate appropriately. It's very accurate. The module also has on-board sample clock to which other devices can sync if they don't have ADAT inputs. Optx v2 allows you to use your +5 V power rail if you so choose (toggled with a rear jumper), which drops the +12 V current draw considerably.
