The original release date was… <checks notes>… May 2024. I had a hunch that was nonsense when I backed the project. I remain cautiously optimistic about the product and the odds of receiving mine, but this could well be my last hurrah with Kickstarter-type projects. I like the idea of a mechanism for “crazy projects” to see the light of day (for better or worse), but it’s kind of morphed into something else that doesn’t seem to encourage solid business practices.This is why you shouldn’t announce release dates until you have everything in hand and you’re ready to assemble units. Parts shortages and delays happen, but after having spent hundreds of dollars up front, that should be a company problem, not a customer problem. You shouldn’t be making release announcements until you’re sure you can ship your product.
