I also thought about your idea of a dual easel a few years back, but then realized that I wanted/needed a larger Buchla system. I went for an 18 space cabinet, and shortly after a 24 one and haven’t looked back.
I feel the easel should be left alone as that, and enjoyed/patched for what it is.
