After almost 3 years, I've successfully merged a DJ workflow with live sequencing in one rack and arrived at a point where my primary task is sample curation.
I have 4 tempo-synced WAV players acting like DJ decks, plus a drum machine, acid synth voice, and effects, all in 6U 84HP. The foundation of the whole thing is whatever I put into the WAV players, which is currently a collection of loops & stems that I've produced - drum tracks and layered music stems which can be mixed & matched - as well as entire tracks to fall back on.
I'm still fiddling around, trying to establish sufficient control over filtering and effects while maintaining a nice flow. I also need better coordination of live melodic sequences that actually match the key of the music samples - intentionally!
TL;DR - I built a custom car with four working wheels. Now I have to fill it up with gas and take it on the road!
