Thanx! If/when i want to make a sine/cosine VCO with a nice response, i'll use that. For this VCF though i want to keep things as rough and minimal as possible.and if you want to reduce distortion and make the CV response more exponential, you can do so by adding one more opamp and making the 4 transistor core into a true VCA (as serge used in his VCF)
ok no this makes a lot of sense though. If you treat integrators as first order "low-boost" filters and assume the output is second order lowpass, then before it must come a signal that gives -1 to the highs to make it second-order, AND to the lows to compensate for "low-boost'. The only mystery is why do we assume the last stage is a second order lowpass.. but also, this explanation is feasible for my not-very-mathy brain. Thanks! UPD: waaait, i don't get the 20 and 40 db per decade thing. I always saw the db/oct notation, where first order is 6 and second is 12 db per octave. I tried websearching about this, but the results i get do not click at all. Why do you use decades instead of octaves and how do you end up with so many? x'D Someone says "There are 3.32 octaves in a decade, so dB/decade = 3.32 * dB/octave" - is that it? Just unit choice? Or are there some underlying rocks that i do not see?
