Oh I am not asking for a knob per function thing here. Menu diving would have been fine. The Cymatic could do it with just some buttons and an encoder.I think with most 32+ channel interfaces you lose hardware control like gain. It would make the units much larger and more expensive.I'm on an Orion 32 right now, after a ton of deliberation. It was an upgrade from a Cymatic uTrack24. So far I am very pleased.
- Not much problem with the firmware/software side of things. This is a common complaint, but maybe it is more common for windows users?
- I wish it had better metering on the displays, and maybe a way to set channel gains on the unit itself. Lots of real estate on the front that I am sure could've been put to better use.
- You will need a dedicated way of getting headphone outs. Nothing on the unit itself.
I ended up getting a separate DAC for the outputs inc headphones which was actually way more expensive than the interface. I probably should have done it differently.
A yeah, I was deliberating for a long time what to get for the headphone out. Ended up scoring a Dangerous Audio Source for a fair price. That way I also have monitor control, and can quickly select with a button wether I listen directly from my interfaces DSP mixer, for when I am tracking, or listen through the DAW. The Orions additional SPDIF output and the Source's inbuilt DAC goes nicely together in that case.
That said, my holy grail is a Lynx (n), but maybe when I win the lottery. 32 channels of that is um, too steep at the moment.
