A problem for me with this exercise is that it doesn’t really address the fundamental issues of intent and value. Sure, one way or another you can get into modular synthesis for under $1500, but that doesn’t mean you should or that what you wind up with will be in any way better than a non-modular alternative. Even though modular is now a lot more affordable, it’s still not great for the budget-limited, so the modular approach needs to be providing unique/compelling value or why bother? I don’t think buying a bunch of Behringer modules is necessarily a good idea just as a way to “get more” for the sake of “getting more”—it needs to be more of what you actually want.
