I have an FRM Audio Really Nice Compressor on the stereo line inserts on my studio mixer. I set it for limiting, since it does a good job with that. The mixer also has equalization of course. I've always had trouble hearing the nuances of light compression. I don't do mixing. Every recording I make is live, straight stereo. I don't need mastering, which is why I put it in scary quotes. What I want, simply, is to try a few modules for equalization, mid-side processing and compression at the end. I also realized that every time I get a module that uses a knob for more than one thing, I get annoyed. That's one reason why I'm selling my Veno-Echo. I like to try things out. You wouldn't believe the number of modules I've sold or traded.Late to the party here, but probably since it’s end of chain have you considered regular recording gear after the rack? An Elysia Xfilter Box for example does really wonders just turned on with barely touching the potis. Non modulate-able offcourse but that’s in my understanding the purpose of end of chain.
