Agreed, and I’ll add that using the Gx expander with a Planar2 works great for this as well, either with recorded voltage or signals put into the CV inputs.The Qx expander is my preferred "complex gate pattern" generator as well. Image may be NSFW.Since I picked up the Qx expander, it’s been a lot of fun to view Quadrax channels less as envelopes/lfos, but as ways to generate complex gate patterns. Been meaning to try this with burst mode for applications like you’re describing.Using a triangle lfo to modulate the Rise and Fall parameters of Quadrax in pulse generator mode, using Quadrax's output to trigger a snare drum (uPeaks), and playing around with Quadrax's length and number of bursts can dial in a sort of pseudo- ratcheting, pseudo-'random' snare effect.
