Ah yes, some of the Analogue Solutions synths have neat sequencers on eh? The one I really want separately is the original Fusebox one. I like this halfway house between prescriptive-ness and auto repeater. All the best for the Europa, I sometimes think I should reappraise that one myself.
N I understand your take on gates vs MIDI. Personally the note numbering convention in MIDI is too good for me to ignore but people on here do some amazing things solely with analogue address.

I'm sure I just read a RYK sequencer review that mentions that was exactly his reason for designing the thing - repeating 8 step patterns getting boring. I've eschewed 8 step sequencers when looking but I always remember how I had more fun on the Zaquencer demo which was limited to 8 steps vs the full licence that provided 32. There's something nice about 8/6 steps for ostinatos. tbf I quite get into 11/8 patterns as well though. Have also experimented on the Cirklon with 9 steps pendulum which gives you 16 steps but that's actually more limited than was particularly useful as I found. Can still get a few asymmetric patterns that are solid.I can come up with fun and interesting things on both but running an 8 step sequencer over and over gets boring real quick...
