If it's one thing I can confidently say, people claim ALL KINDS of 'legacy accuracy' about modules, and many fail to deliver.Are they based off of the same classic Oberheim SEM or are there different Oberheim filters?
The original SEM was by Dennis Colin of ARP and published in JAES (Journal of the Audio Engineering Society). It was one of the first documented state-variable VCFs.
On a historical, technology time-lime it uses very specific "horribly bad" parts. However, these parts are what makes it sound the way it originally did. I looked at several current "SEM filters", and NONE, repeat N O N E of them used the complete set of original parts.
Well, the E430 does.
