This is all so massively over my head on a technical and mathematical level, but I love how it sounds and what you're doing.Over the break I've spent a lot of time exploring patch programming with the 4-bit Schlappi Logic System (Nibbler, BTMX, BTFLD). I even wrote a command-line program that lets me simulate this system running with two cross-patched Nibblers, fuzzed against various parameters to try and find interesting patches, millions of combinations at a time.
I present an early finding in the first video of what I hope will become a series:
In this first part, I show how we can use the 4-bit Schlappi Logic System to generate the afro-cuban timelines that Godfried Touissant presents in his classic text The Geometry of Musical Rhythm. Most excitingly, I show how a single patch actually generates 5 out of 6 of the timelines! I hope you all enjoy!
