General Gear • Re: Modern Cassette Recorders

A modern cassette recorder is a computer. I honestly have no idea why you want to use a medium those of us who had no choice were glad to see the end of, other than some kind of misplaced borrowed nostalgia. I know this won't be a popular post.
Cassette quality suits some music very well. You might not care for the sound, and that's fine, but getting this type of truly dirty sound from a computer recording... good luck.

Late to the party but totally agree with Dubonaire here and if you want that tape sound it's very doable these days - I will blank out if anyone try's to convince me about analog superiority here I don't give a shit - Butttttt also chiming in because thank you Pyrrhix for turning me on to that Beau Wanzer LP. A good fun use of that vibe for sure and I'm getting my giggles on.

And finally to the point - I came hear not because I care about the tape sound really but I have been toying with the idea of getting something to record my rack with - I have an es9 and use Ableton with ease but thought it might be cool to just have physical media one takes - could be more fun to cruise through than the bamillion files on my Mac? That Tascam looks cool for that purpose although I wish someone made a small walkman with good audio quality for this purpose. Ive seen some of the new rack mount ones but they are more for effects and the retro Walkmans on Amazon look like shit.
