DIY TRS MIDI type changers. (Or how to make TRS MIDI type a non-issue in your studio.)
A couple years ago I bought these:
- 4 Pack Replacement 3.5mm TRS Plug to Bare Wire Open End for Headphone Cable Repair
- 4 Pack Replacement 3.5mm TRS Socket for Headphone Cable Repair
I soldered them together, swapping the wiring of tip and ring (tip to ring between the plug and the socket and likewise ring to tip (see the diagrams at minimidi.world)), and I made 4 TRS MIDI type changers.
I also put green Bananuts on the jacks of my Type-B devices. (Previously, I had little stickers.)
(The type changers also work to swap the left and right channels of TRS audio.)
