Filters are not a necessity ! but dependend on what you want to do, useful.Do you guys find that a filter is a necessity afterwards? Or is that going to be Wavetable dependent?
I patched my E370 most of the time without the use of any VCF. ( while several VCFs would just sit very close to it)
a trick that is superb for percussive stuff:
couple -internally- a second VCO of the E370 to the first one.
Take a WT set that has a sinewave at the very beginning. (ALL my WTs have that ! for reasons)
patch that sinewave as a Filter-FM modulator into a good VCF.
apply a VCA/ENV combo to that modulator or not. Your choice.
SSM Filters work very good usually.
The Yusynth diode ladder worked best of all the filters i´ve tested.
The sounds that can be had by adding filter FM are very nice. Sometimes even insanely good.
The trick is, it has to be phase locked. Which is so easy to achive within the E370.
Whatever i´d do with the E370, one VCO is *allways* coupled to the main one for such external FM purposes.
and: since ALL my WT sets start with a sinewave (and some short fade section) can i use any of my WTs as a modulator.
It´s a clever idea to have a sinewave first
