1U & 3U Eurorack Modules • Re: Make Noise DXG - Dual Stereo Gate

Can anyone explain what the benefit of not having output two taken out of the mix output when patched is? This is such a baffling decision to me. Not being able to use this as two independent LPGs makes no sense to me. It would have been so easy to do too.
It's explained earlier in the thread and discussed extensively, but to summarize this is behavior consistent with moddemix, optomix, etc. and the idea is that it can be used as an effects send: striking a stereo source and then sending to mimeophon for example.

I was initially disappointed that it didn't remove CH 2 from the mix when patched, but then I realized that if it did remove it, I would end up with a new problem: the need to mix stereo sources somewhere else in the patch anyway which I would probably solve with either another DXG or an XPan.

In practice, i haven't needed the "remove from mix" behavior yet which has surprised me. I could think of patches where it would be useful, but when I just sit down and start patching it hasn't come up. I have traditional LPGs in the setup so it's not a big deal to patch a mono LPG when I need two stereo LPGs.
I get the effects send thing but you can accomplish pretty the same thing if the normalization was broken: just use the dry/wet balance and patch the return back into the aux input. I get why it makes sense on the optomix too as it can then be used for side chaining.

Breaking the normalization is useful if you want to use them as two separate LPGs/VCAs which is something I wanted to do but couldn’t.

I wish they had put a dip switch on the back of the DXG so we could decide if we want to keep the normalization or break it. Maybe they can do that in a v2?
