General Gear • Re: Fun, smallish electronic instruments?

Synthstrom Deluge is the most capable instrument in a compact form factor that I have. It is quite affordable for what it can do. I would judge the Deluge to be fairly quick to learn (especially with the OLED screen) and definitely loads of fun.

Additionally, the developer has made the firmware open source so as to enable those so inclined in the community to create their own forks and whatnot.

If I were to take any single instrument I have on a trip away from home, I am likeliest to take the Deluge.
This right here.

I’ve had a lot of gear come in and out of my studio over the years. I can say without any hesitation that the Deluge is quite simply, awesom! It is arguably one of my most favorite instruments, ever.
The onboard synth sounds great. The sequencer is extremely powerful, easy to use, and can control everything in the studio, in addition to its onboard synth and drum machine, all at the same time. The onboard sampler is icing on the cake. Oh yeah, it’s also portable, battery powered, and has an onboard speaker and mic.

(FWIW, I opted to keep the original display on the Deluge and I still find it easy to use)

If I had to liquidate, the modular would go before the Deluge. Honestly, it and the pro one would be surgically grafted onto me.
