Having two lengths of cables sounds that are opposed ends of the length spectrum sounds pretty contained. In a good way. I've got so many different lengths I try to keep grouped together and I end up playing a mini game of which length would be most optimized for this patch distance lol. Did you plan your rig around having modules far away/close together? Also i have grouped everything like all filters in one place, all effects in another place, modulations over there etc.
However, I do keep modulation together as much as possible so I can go from say lfo to env but that is the first type that gets put anywhere if need be. I used to have vca types sprinkled around mostly so cables aren't all converging in one place but I like to be able to use the same cable and be able to switch it between similar places.
With 2x104 I have two lengths of cable.. one that can reach from one end to another (I use ctrl-mod 65cm for that because they are thin), and another shorter 30cm for most things. I also occasionally use the really short pink make noise cables but generally reach for 30cm so I can easily repatch. Also having only 2 lengths makes for simple unpatching and I have them all different colors for both lengths so it is easy to see the routings visually.
The other thing I usually do is that some modules are aligned with jacks or controls on the top or bottom and I try to put those near or far accordingly (only have one of those currently). Like batumi would go away and tempi would go near if possible so cables don't interfere as much with the controls.
