So after a few days with the EHX 45000, I've realized it is the most superior loop machine ever made. I was just able to accomplish something that I've always dreamed a looper could do, but none has yet delivered in a reasonable way.
I was playing along with a bunch of non-synced delays that were creating a super cool rhythmic sound bed that I wanted to loop, but there was no clock running at the tempo I was playing. So I set the 45000's tempo slider so that the metronome aligned with my riff, and recorded an 8 bar loop. Then I set the 45000's clock source to MIDI and adjusted my drum machine's BPM until the 45000 displayed that the tempo matched the original loop BPM and bam! now I'm playing a loop of a riff that was not played to any real clock, but it's synced perfectly to my MIDI master device. It's the perfect solution for when you don't always play to a MIDI clock, but you want the ability to do so at any time.
I honestly can't really even imagine a better looper - especially for a synth setup where you want the mix controls on the desk. (I promise I'm not just trying to hype up a recently-discontinued piece of gear lol, I just really am impressed by it!)
