I'd try cleaning all the connectors on each end of each cable. All of them, male and female connectors. If any of the IC sockets were corroded badly, I'd replace them.
First of all though, replace that unholy back up battery with a new coin cell. I've done it several times, it's easy to fit the battery holder. You're lucky that the damage from the battery leaking seems to be minor. That said, see that greyed out trace to the upper left of the battery as viewed in what I think was the third photo? That's battery electrolyte damage. Trace each trace that appears that way, and solder a jumper to bridge each connection. Do this even if that trace is functional, it won't stay functional for long. I find thin magnet wire works best for this purpose.
Also, if you see any corrosion in that area on the lead of a resistor, cap, transistor, or chip, replace that component, most especially if that corrosion goes all the way into the body of the component. The corrosion will not stop at the body. Don't ask me how I learned that.
If you have yet to find the service manual online, it will help, despite how poorly the schematics are drawn.
Does the distorted voice stay the same, or does it move with the 2056?
