Thanks for your advice. Do you have the Make Noise case yourself?I like the MN case, but one of the things that was changed w the 4-zone new case is a lot more power. The 7U (older) MN case is 1.4A (they've removed from their site so you cannot read specs directly from MN), while the new MN case is 4A, -12VDC @ 2.4A and +5VDC @ 1A. To compare, the Befaco case is 5000mA on the +12V rail, 2500mA on -12V, and 4000mA on +5V.
I have never had power issues myself, but I have read that if you have a lot of digital modules, you can get up to that 1.4A pretty quickly. So maybe before you purchase, throw together your planned system in modularGrid and make sure you're under 80% of that 1.4A.
You're also going to have a lot more flexibility building your own 1U row (and it's compatible with intellijel's ins/outs/etc, so you can connect behind the scenes).
If I am wrong on any of the above, someone let me know and I will edit! Good luck.
I put together a "sort of" Shared System on modgrid and this is the power consumption result:
1531 mA +12V | 755 mA -12V | 0 mA 5
And this is the Shared System Plus:
1090 mA +12V | 425 mA -12V | 0 mA 5V
