General Gear • Re: MIDI and Signal Output Connections

I use an old KMX MIDI patchbay for MIDI connections. It's programmable for different setups and helps prevent latency by only sending to the devices you are using at the moment.
I've got a rather rare Yamaha PLS to do the same with audio.
Then a couple of patchbays to bring all the connections of the rack gear to the front.
I have a similar setup, actually found the PLS-1 last year but haven't decided how I want to integrate it yet. Basic audio patchbays will make your life far more pleasant. I'm a fan of the old 80s Yamaha equipment, very well made and reliable. The MJC-8 is fairly common and inexpensive as a MIDI Thru solution: https://yamahablackboxes.com/collection ... patch-bay/

Usually under $100, the patch memory is convenient.
Just remember the PLS works either way. 1 to 4 or 4 to 1 x8
I use it mainly to route off board effects.
